Settling in at Kindergarten Meilenstein
Starting kindergarten is a big step – for children and parents alike. To ensure your child feels comfortable with us, we take plenty of time for the settling-in period. It usually takes about four weeks, sometimes a little shorter or longer – depending on your child's progress.
On the first day, we'll have an initial consultation with the parents, while your child has the opportunity to get acquainted with the group and their first toys. This allows us to discuss together how the settling-in period will be tailored to their individual needs.
To ensure a smooth transition, we've put together a few tips for you:
✨ Regularity is important
Please visit daily if possible so your child can develop a sense of security and routine.
✨ You are the most important caregiver.
During the first few days, you will stay with your child in the group. This way, your child feels safe and can build trust in peace.
✨ Build trust slowly
The teacher will gradually take on the role of the new caregiver. Your child will need time and patience for this.
✨ Short and clear goodbyes
When the first short separations are approaching, say goodbye deliberately but briefly. This way your child knows you'll be back.
✨ Always stay reachable
Especially in the first few weeks, it's important that we can reach you quickly if needed.
✨ A Step-by-Step Approach to Daily Life
With each day, your child will become more actively involved in kindergarten. After about four weeks, they usually feel safe, enjoy coming, and have settled into the group.
A familiar cuddly toy or favorite toy can, of course, accompany your child during this time – this provides additional support.
We want your child's settling-in period to be a loving and positive start to a new phase of life. Together, we'll create the best conditions for this.
